Eucalyptus Globulus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus) also known as Tasmanian Blue Gum, is a tall evergreen tree with smooth bark, long silver to green leaves, and large ivory-colored flowers.

Its name Eucalyptus is derived from the Greek words eu and calypso, meaning “well” and “covered.” Globulus is Latin for globe-like and refers to the shape of the fruit. It is one of the oldest native medicines used in Australia and was proclaimed the floral emblem of Tasmania.

Eucalyptus oil is actively used in formulations of mouthwash, inhalers, and vapor rub. It is often used in steam inhalers to decongest the respiratory tract and provides relief in common coughs and colds. When diffused, its aroma lends warmth and is very comforting. Its anti-inflammatory nature can ease aching muscles and stimulate healthy circulation.
